VENUE

At St Cuthbert’s we love to meet people from our surrounding community. One of the ways we do this is to make our space available for hire to external organisations. Our Church Centre opened in 2004 and has hosted everything from Concerts to Staff Training Days. Read on to find out more about our venue.

Northumbria Hall

The Northumbria Hall is one of our largest and most versatile rooms, and sees use for a wide variety of events including; AGM’s, dance classes, cookery classes and other large functions. It features a large adjoining kitchen which is fully equipped two ovens, hob, dishwasher and a serving hatch into the hall, making it perfect if you need to provide catering for your event. Crockery and Cutlery is also available. Furniture can be arranged to meet your requirements, we also have a small ‘bistro’ style seating area at one end of the hall which sees regular use as a breakout space.

Melrose Room

The Melrose Room is one of our most comfortable and popular rooms and is frequently used for boardroom style meetings, group discussion and presentations to smaller audiences. Events here can be self-contained, with a unisex toilet just next door, and a trolley service provided by arrangement for refreshments. The room also has direct access into our Worship Area meaning it is occasionally booked as a storage area for performances and concerts in that room.

Lindisfarne Room

The Lindisfarne is another of our smaller classrooms and is often used for small presentations, craft groups and games groups. Blackout blinds and the large wall make it ideal for small events needing projection. It is accessible through the Northumbria Hall with a view to the rear of the building. As with most of our other rooms the furniture can be adjusted to suit your requirements.

Farne Loft

If you require a more informal, relaxed venue then the Farne Loft may be right for you. The loft features lounge style seating and is frequently used for informal discussion, teaching, and as a breakout space for casework by users of other rooms. It can also be adapted for a more theatre style presentation utilising other our overflow seating for the Worship Area.

Worship Area

Our Main Church Area provides comfortable seating for large audiences and comes fully equipped with Audio/Visual Equipment including projector and microphones* As well as hosting St Cuthbert’s Church Services we’re also increasingly seeing the venue used to host concerts and other performances, with the sloping roof providing excellent acoustics.

*We regret that we are unable to provide technical support on the day of your event. Full training on the operation of the AV equipment can be arranged ahead of the event with the Church Administrator.

The Worship Area is only available to other Christian organisations and for the purpose of concerts provided they are consistent with our values and beliefs.

Douglas Hall

The Douglas Hall opened in 1972 and is home to the largest room in our offering. The hall is a large gym-style space that can be divided into 3 smaller partitions using dividers if required. Like our other hall is has movable tables and chairs that can be arranged to suit your needs. It also comes with an adjoining kitchen with oven/hob and serving hatch into the main hall. Cutlery and Crockery is also available to use. The hall sees use for a large variety of functions and also the home of 5th Preston (St Cuthbert’s) Scout Group*

Durham Room

The Durham Room is our smallest room and provides a cosy space for discussion band reflection. The room is mainly used to small informal gatherings of no more than 10 people, and is sometimes used as a private room for casework by customers booking other rooms as well.

Upper Room

Situated in our Douglas Hall, this extremely versatile room has both an area with tables and chairs for classroom based or discussion style meetings and an open area for practical demonstations. The room also features a kitchenette with Microwave, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a sink meaning guests can keep themselves fed and watered without causing disruption to your event. A small amount of lounge style seating is also available as a breakout space in one corner of the room. The room is one of our most frequently booked and has been used by various organsiations over the years to host First-Aid courses due to its ability to host both classroom and practical learning.
