Our Purpose

“St Cuthbert’s Fulwood exists to see people fired by the love of God”

“like a good teacher [St Cuthbert] taught others to do only what he first practised himself. Above all else, he was afire with heavenly love, unassumingly patient, devoted to unceasing prayer, and kindly to all who came to him for comfort.”

Our Values are founded on four key elements of God’s love.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how WIDE and LONG and HIGH and DEEP is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:17-19

Wide Embrace

We believe that the Father’s extravagant love is for everyone.

We want to invite people with anticipation and to welcome them with joy, so that all may know the fullness of God’s love.

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms round him and kissed him.

(Luke 15:20)

Long Outreach

We believe that God – Father, Son and Spirit – is on a mission to renew the whole of creation.

We seek to join in on this: courageously living in our locality as ‘ordinary missionaries’, and resourcing others generously to the ends of the earth.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

(Matthew 28:18-20)

High Expectancy

We believe that the gate of heaven is everywhere and the Spirit is always with us.

We long to practice the presence of God in the highs and the lows of our daily lives, and to celebrate his presence together, in word and in sacrament.

When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.’ He was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.’

(Genesis 28:16-17)

Deep Transformation

We believe that following Jesus Christ is a whole-life, life-long adventure of transformation.

We desire to go deeper as ‘everyday disciples’ of Christ – with head, heart and hands – and to be transformed more and more into his likeness, in both the fruit and the gifts of his Spirit.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
