Hello, and and thank you for your interest in this role with us at St Cuthbert’s Fulwood in Preston.
Three general goals that we have for this post are:
1. Increased effectiveness in seeing our children and youth becoming disciples of Jesus and growing in him.
2. A larger number of non-church families having positive and regular links with St Cuthbert’s.
3. A growing number of families – parents as well as children – coming to faith in Jesus Christ and becoming part of our family at St Cuthbert’s.
There has perhaps never been a more important time to invest in youth and children’s work in our churches. The Scripture Union’s ’95 Campaign’ tells us that a staggering 95 per-cent of under-18s don’t go to church. (It is likely this number has increased during the pandemic.) However, many of them are open to faith if we can work together to reach them with the good news of Jesus Christ.
We would not see your role as doing everything ‘for us’ in this area of church life; rather to journey ‘with us’, and to help oversee, catalyse and lead this endeavour to more fully reach and disciple the young people and children in our church and community. We would be willing to tailor the role around the right candidate, if necessary.
Please take a look at the information in this document, as well as the role and person descriptions, and consider applying for this role.
In the meantime, we will be praying for you as you consider whether this might be what God is calling you to.
God bless,
Revd. Mark Bradford
Vicar, St Cuthbert’s Fulwood
