Practical Church Support Needed

The church would like as many members to have a sense of belonging not only through joining various groups and growing in the Christian faith but also to help in practical ways. The following areas are in current need of support and are good ways of putting faith into action.

1) Welcoming – This is vital area particularly in relation to new visitors and to all who attend our worship services to make them feel both welcomed and to show our hospitality as a Christian Community

2) Key Holding – As the church facilities are used extensively throughout the week. Volunteers are needed to help those using the premises with opening up, providing tea/coffee, and helping in any way with the use of the facilities and of course finally locking up at the end.

3) Coffee & Tea – Volunteers on a rota provide Tea & Coffee in the Church Hall every Sunday after the 9.30 am family service and before the 11.00am Morning communion for those attending both services. Always need more volunteers.

4) Music Group – help in providing and leading worship through music. There a number of gifted musicians and singers in groups, who cover all the services on a rota basis. The group is always on the look out for new volunteers who feel they have a musical gift to offer.

5) Technical support - Sound and vision systems for church services and occasionally for outside events in church are run by a few dedicated volunteers with an aptitude for such technical roles. Training is available for new volunteers to help in this important area of work that is continually growing with changing technology. Development and maintenance of other technical systems in the centre also provide a challenge for those blessed with the right skills.

6) Sidespeople – These are wonderful people who assist the church wardens in lots of practical ways before, during and after services. If you are prepared to help please speak to the church wardens.

7) Helping with children’s Sunday activities – In order to help lead and assist with the different age groups as they go to their classes from the church service, a number of adults volunteer their time having to miss services for this vital work. More volunteers means, more can be done with rotas to reduce the burdens on a few people.

8) Rock Solid– Volunteers are needed to help every Monday at 7.30pm along with ‘Youth for Christ’ in running a youth club particularly aimed at youth outside the church to give them purpose and meaning to their lives. Church youngsters are also welcome to join in.
